Katherine M. Patton

American, 1888 - 1984


Katherine Maxey Patton was born in Wheaton, IL in 1888. She worked in Chicago as an illustrator and painter. From 1908-1915, she exhibited at the annual exhibitions at the Art Institute of Chicago under her maiden name, Katherine Maxey. In 1918, she married Alfred R. Patton. After his untimely death, Patton worked professionally as an artist and interior designer. She also designed wallpaper murals. Her brother was character and “B” movie actor, Paul Maxey. By the 1940s, Patton moved to Pasadena, CA, where she also worked as an interior designer. Her work can be found in the Vanderpoel Art Association Collection, Chicago, IL. She died in California in 1984.
