Frederic Varaday

American, 1908 - 2002


Frederic Varady was an notable American illustrator who was born in Budapest, Hungary. He escaped the Nazis and immigrated to the U.S. in 1931. He lived and worked in New York City. He was president of the New York Artist’s and Sculptor’s Institute. Varady did illustrations for such magazines as Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Women’s Home Companion and Ladies Home Journal, among others. He died in New York City in 2002.
