M. Sibyl Kane Walker was born into privilege in Tuxedo Park, NY in 1892. He father was Grenville Kane, a banker and one of the founding families of the exclusive Tuxedo Park community. In 1906, she married A. Stewart Walker a prominent New York architect. Walker was a artist and designer, who sometimes worked with her husband on commissions. The couple were on New York’s Social Register. She exhibited at such venues as the Art Institute of Chicago, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Society of Independent Artists and the Salons of America, among others. She was represented by Knoedler Gallery in New York. Her work can be found in the Tate Gallery in London. She died in New York in 1969.
