Born in Fallencourt, France in 1876, Alfred Marie Le Petit was a painter, decorator, engraver and cartoonist. He was the son of famed French political satirist and cartoonist, Alfred Le Petit (1841-1909). Le Petit focused on landscape and figure painting, and executed numerous landscapes of the English Channel, the North Sea, Le Havre and Rouen. The artist was a pupil of Fernand Cormon and Léon Bonnat. He exhibited at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts and at the Salon des Indépendants. His paintings are present in several Museums, including Caen, Chatou, Isle-Adam, Rouen, Marseille. Le Petit died in 1953 in La Frette sur Seine.
