Eigil G. Rasmussen was born in Nastved, Denmark in 1913. He emigrated to the United States with his family in 1925, first settling in Kansas City, KS and then moving to Chicago in the early 1930s. As an adult, Rasmussen lived on the near Northwest side of Chicago and worked professionally as a commercial artist specializing in graphic design and scientific illustration. In the late 1960s, he exhibited his Chicago themed paintings at the Florentine Galleries on Oak Street in Chicago. In 1967 and 1968, his Chicago scenes were exhibited in "Places Visited", two exhibitions held the lobby gallery of the Hartford Building at 100 S. Wacker Drive. The Chicago Tribune featured images of these works in reviews of the exhibitions at that time. Rasmussen died in Chicago in 1971.
