Everett C. McNear

American, 1904 - 1984


Everett C. McNear was born in Minneapolis, MN in 1904. McNear began his career as a set designer in Minnesota. He studied at the University of Minnesota and at the Minneapolis School of Art, studying with Cameron Booth. Starting in 1932, McNear made numerous trips to Europe to study art. McNear settled in Chicago in 1933, working as a illustrator and graphic designer. He also exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art’s Club winning numerous prizes. His work can be found in the collection of the Snite Museum at Notre Dame University in South Bend, IN, Princeton Art Museum, Princeton, NJ and the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, NY. He died in Chicago, IL in 1984.
