Giogio Scalco was born in Schio, Italy in 1929. He studied at the Universita Cattolica of Milan and at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. Scalco worked as a stage and set designer in Rome until 1960, when he began painting full-time. He soon gained gallery representation throughout Europe and America, including Guildhall Gallery in Chicago. Scalco exhibited at the Grand Palais in Paris, Martin-Gropius-Bau Museum of Berlin and the Panorama Museum at Bad Frankenhausen, Germany, among others. From 1968 to 1982, he was a professor of art at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. Presently, Scalco resides in Rome.
