Herb Field Jr. (Herbert Hirshfield ) was born in Amsterdam, Holland in 1909 and was a commercial artist and illustrator. He emigrated to the U.S. with his family in 1916. Field was best known for his comic lettering and illustration work. He did work for DC Comics, among others. He resided in Croton-On-Hudson, New York, where where his studio was called the “Herb Field Art Studio”. His art studio serviced publishers. Field also illustrated numerous George Sullivan sports books. In 1999, he died in Laguna Hills, CA.
