Leonardo Nierman

Mexican/American, b. 1932


Born in Mexico City in 1932, Leonardo Nierman originally studied the violin. Nierman felt that he lacked the talent to be a professional violinist and instead decided to pursue art. Nierman said, “Music and painting are very much alike – both have tonalities, rhythms, high-intensity areas, and resting areas”.

In 1951, he received his degree from the Accounting School of the Autonomous University of Mexico with a Bachelors Degree in business in 1951, but soon after dedicated himself to painting.

His artwork, which is inspired by nature and music have been exhibited in museums worldwide.
