Louis Alexander Neebe
American, 1873 - 1935
Louis Alexander Neebe was born in Philadelphia in 1873. He studied at both the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. Neebe studied with prominent landscape painter Charles Francis Brown and Oxbow founder Frederick Fursman. He was a member of the Chicago Society of Artists and exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago. Neebe also worked as a photo engraver for the Chicago Tribune. He is best known for his Fauvist landscape paintings. He was married to fellow prominent, Chicago artist Minnie Harms Neebe. Neebe died in Chicago in 1935.
