Shoshannah (Susanna) Siporin

American, 1921 - 1998


Shoshannah (Susanna) Siporin Hoffman was born in Detroit, MI in 1921 of Russian-Jewish parentage. She was the sister of artist Mitchell Siporin. Siporin painted under the names Susanna Siporin and the singular “Shoshannah”. She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago with artists Boris Anisfeld and Seymour Rosofsky. Shoshannah exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago and in 1940, was a founding member of the American Jewish Art Club. Her work can be found in the collection of the Illinois State Museum. She died in Evanston, IL in 1989.
