Anthony Buchta

American, 1896 - 1967


Born in 1896, Anthony Buchta was known as a landscape painter, print maker and art instructor. The artist lived in Chicago where he studied at the city's Art Institute and the Chicago Academy of Fine Art. His teachers included Charles Schroeder and Leslie F. Thompson. Buchta was a member of the Chicago Galleries Association, the Palette & Chisel Club, the Hoosier Salon, the Scarab Club, the Detroit Watercolor Society, the New Orleans Art Association, and the Brown County Artist Guild, among others. The artist was also active in Indiana, exhibiting annually with the Hoosier Salon and painting in Brown County. The artist died in 1967.
